Now, MIS decompression or laminectomy describes a way where a surgeon sneaks into the spine without injuring muscles and then creates just a bit more space for patients who have a narrowing of their canal. Now, in cases of spondylolisthesis, disc herniations, or degenerative stenosis, this operation can relieve leg symptoms and make it so that patients can walk once again.

Spinal Stenosis Spinal stenosis results from new bone and soft tissue growth on the vertebrae, which reduces the space in the spinal canal. When the nerve roots are pinched, a painful burning, tingling and/or numbing sensation is felt from the lower back down to the legs and sometimes all the way to the feet.

The results are usually instantaneous, patient’s rarely in physical therapy. For patients who have failed conservative care, this may be a reasonable option to think about.
